First, I've just posted the latest book discussion over at [livejournal.com profile] dawbooks. It's about Michelle West's The Hidden City, the first book in The House Wars series. It came out in paperback last month, so if you've read it, head on over and tell everyone what you thought of it.

I'm continuing the free book giveaways here on my LJ. This time, I'm giving away the first books in Patricia Bray's ([livejournal.com profile] pbray's) two series: Devlin's Luck, the first book in The Sword of Change series, and The First Betrayal, the first book in The Chronicles of Josan trilogy. And guess what? BOTH BOOKS ARE SIGNED! Yes, you could win a signed copy!

To enter the contest, simply leave a comment here, it's as easy as that. I'll select two people at random in another week or so (two winners, one book each). Feel free to spread the word about the contest, with links back to here if you want. The idea is to spread the word about the books I like after all. And if you've already read them, feel free to leave comments talking about how wonderful they are!

Because I read both and enjoyed both, I am just commenting to say -- give 'em a read! The Devlin books are a neat take on the question of fate/destiny in fantasy (and funny in the process), and the Josan books have some really neat psychological stuff mixed with all kinds of intrigue.

New books? You have tempted me, sir. Waving shiny, new books at a poor college student.

I've been intrigued by the name "Devlin" since I first saw it. It sounds gentle. It suggests a sensitive man who is nevertheless strong and can come to the aid of damsels in distress. But then a slight rearrangement of the letters suggests "devil" or "evil." I'm betting on integrity, though. Luck, Honor, Sacrifice....sounds like a good read. JB (who is not going to KC)

And you not going to KC sucks. Who's going to keep me moral and honest and full of integrity?

Don't enter me in the random drawing - - I already have signed copies of both. (I'm just trying to boost the comment numbers so people wonder what's going on.) And they are excellent books, by an excellent woman.

Why sure, I'll enter for a chance to win one of her books. I've read THE FINAL SACRIFICE and really enjoyed it. I'm sure I would enjoy any and all of the others as well.

I feel kind of cheap for commenting just for a book. But what can I say? I'm a bibliophile. A dirty, dirty bibliophile.
