OK, I will be attending Arisia this coming weekend, January 12-14, 2007, along with
pbray and
jennifer_dunne. I've never been to Arisia and have been sufficiently warned by them about what to expect. I think. We'll see when I get there. However, I signed up late enough that I ended up with a room on the party floor. We'll see how that works out.
Anyway, here's my schedule:
Saturday: The Immortal Dilemma: Not Ending. 4:00 PM
Science Fiction is filled with portrayals of immortal characters, but what is life really like for an immortal? Compare the concept of a solitary immortal surrounded by mortals, to the idea of a society comprised entirely of immortals.
Sunday: City Building 11:00 AM
From Ankh-Morpork to Ambergris, well-crafted cities are central to the genre's most successful SF worlds. What goes into creating a believable city and it's culture? How can we touch on the histories of cities both real and fictional. Panelists and attendees will take a stab at jointly creating a city.

Anyone else out there going to Arisia?
