Aha! It appears that
vespican has posted a review of Well of Sorrows in the last day or so. Check it out!
Also discovered the reviews for the book on www.barnesandnoble.com yesterday and was happy to see that they were all good, including a review from VOYA. Thanks to everyone who's taken the time to review the books in all of the various locations online!

Date: 2010-08-13 12:36 pm (UTC)It went something like this.
Me: 'The hero is called Colin.'
The marquis: 'Not Colin Landwaster or anything like that?'
Me: No. He's only 12.'
The marquis: 'Oh, okay.' (Colin is not a very cool name over here. In fact, it's rather the opposite.)
Me:' On the other hand, he's from Andover.'
The m: 'Is this urban fantasy?'
Me: 'No. It's an imagined world fantasy. Andover seems to be an empire.'
Cue minor outbreak of Britishness about a empire based on Andover, which is not very big nor very exciting -- think somewhere like Oak Forest Illinois. There may have been accountancy jokes.
Having said which, I love the book.

Like suddenly needing a name for a character I didn't expect or something. Colin was the name for ages before I sat down to write the book though.
