Brain Hurts

I just spent the entire day, both before and after lunch, writing. The before lunch stint was excruciating. Like a visit to the dentist, only pulling words out instead of teeth. I got a grand total of 2 pages written in the space of 2 hours. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

The stint after lunch went much better. I hit a groove and got another 12 or 13 pages done. However, this chapter is the last chapter and so will be excessively long. I'm almost done with the city battle sequence, have just royally pissed off my main character, to the point where she must seek revenge, and am about to hit the sequence where she faces off with the evil bad person in the throne room for a more personal battle. However, I still need to blow up a few walls to get the evil bad person to the throne room. I expect that to take another 5 pages max. Then another 10-15 pages for the big personal battle, for a grand total of . . . 60 pages for the last chapter? It will be divided into two parts however, the last "chapter" being labelled "The Throne Room". So readers will think it's 2 chapters, not one.

But no more writing today, I think. I must start looking at the copy edits for book 1, which I received yesterday. I'm a copy edit virgin, so it should be interesting to see what copy editor's do and/or change. I'm really reading them to verify my main character's age whenever it's mentioned, but I'll pay attention to other things they changed as well to see if anything pisses me off. I'm not expecting this, but we'll see.

And now off to the gym, where at least it's air conditioned.
