Happy Holidays!
Dec. 25th, 2005 11:11 amWishing everyone a happy holiday season! I celebrate Christmas, so Merry Christmas to you all as well! My partner celebrates Russian Christmas, so he's still got a few days left to wait.
So far, I've unwrapped presents and eaten more before lunch than I should have. So Christmas is right on schedule. A few movies, a few new games (hee-hee!), a topological puzzle from my brother that I'm sure will drive me bonkers (I was briefly a topologist; however I've never managed to solve one of these puzzles without the benefit of the solution), a great, brand-new, leather backpack since the zipper on my old one is no longer working . . . all great gifts. The games will have to be tightly rationed since I need (ha-ha, "need" . . .) MUST get the revisions to book 2 done in the next 3 weeks. I'm a games freak and would probably spent all available free time playing games . . . if there were others who would play them that long with me. Ticket To Ride, Puerto Rico, Settlers of Catan . . . all day, every day. Card games, too. The problem is always finding others to play with. My partner doesn't play. I have a fellow game freak
jennifer_dunne, and we drag poor, poor, non-game-freak
pbray into playing, but only for the shorter games, those that take an hour max. There's no one I know who's willing to do the "all weekend single game blitz" like the games Diplomacy or Civilization require. And not only alot of time, but they only work with lots of players, too.
But that's what cons are for, yes?
Anyway, hope everyone who's celebrating enjoys all their gifts. Drop off a comment with your favorite gift and why if you've got time. Later!
