And I'm Back

Saturday was just as hectic as Friday at Lunacon and I ran into even more people from LJ, including agent
onyxhawke, author
suricattus, artist
storn_cook, editor
safewrite, fan
jennythe_reader, agent
varkat, and editor
clarkesworld of the HUGO nominated semiprozine Clarkesworld Magazine. Not all at once in a mob group of course, but at scattered points throughout the con both Saturday and Sunday.
Let's see, Saturday. Got up and around for a panel by reading by
scbutler, followed by a reading by
suricattus. Then my combined reading with Barbara Campbell and my autographing, which was interesting because there wasn't any actual table set up for the autographing (at least not labeled). So Lawrence Schoen and I chose a table at random, which was good because some people actually showed up to have me sign copies of books! So that was fun. Afterwards, one of the con staff showed us the table that they'd set up with all of the autographing here signs, but apparently it had been set up after our signing started. Oh well, things went well anyway. Then I rushed off to my "Queerness and SF" panel which was very well attended. After that I wandered the dealer's room, chatted with fans, and managed to sell a few copies of my books at Larry Smith's table (selling out of their copies of Skewed Throne, which I restocked for them). I had a little bit of down time in my room at this point (much needed), and then it was off to a panel that
scbutler was on called "Revisionist Fairy Tales & Other Retelling."
After this, everyone went off to gather their things for dinner. I'd hoped to go back to the Italian restaurant that
barbarienne had taken me to the night before, but when we arrived it was reservations only for the evening, so we crossed the street to a Mexican place that was actually extremely good. Sam made certain I ate. I also ordered a White Russian with Grey Goose . . . and got a glass of pure vodka instead. So I ordered a ginger ale and had vodka and ginger.
We returned to the hotel and retired to the bar for some ACTUAL White Russians, and then after that we hit Leigh Grossman's party. I spent WAY too much time at the party, finally leaving around 2am, although I had a great time talking to the UConn students and other various industry people, such as Jim Freund and such. Unfortunately, I couldn't sleep in, waking up around 7:30am, so I didn't get much sleep.
Sunday was a little more relaxed. I wandered the halls, sat for a time in some chairs, running into a few people, and then I had my "Swimming with Dragons" panel. I've never personally swum with dragons, but the panel went well. Since there were only two panelists, we opened it up to a discussion with the audience.
And after that I settled up with Sally (I'd sold a few more books YAY!) and departed for a mostly uneventful trip home (I missed the exit for 17 so had to be a little creative to get back on track). A good con overall, much better than I expected, and better than last year. Next up . . . NORWESCON!! I'll post my schedule for that next week more than likely.

Glad it went well!

Date: 2009-03-23 06:23 pm (UTC)I realized last night as I was falling asleep that I had forgotten my leftovers in the fridge in my room. Maybe I better call the hotel and make sure they clean it out...
