This weekend, I'll be at Philcon in downtown Philadelphia. The con is being held at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center Hotel (formerly the Wyndham Franklin Plaza). My schedule at the moment consists of the following panels:

Sat 4:00 PM
BAD WRITING HABITS AND HOW TO AVOID THEM

Everything from sloppy proof reading to finding excuses not to write
and how to avoid them.

Sun 11:00 AM
NETWORKING

How the new writer should go about meeting editors and agents.

Sun 2:00 PM
RELIGIONS CREATED FOR FANTASY OR SCIENCE FICTION

The religions that authors create as part of the plot or setting.

I will likely also have a reading, but we're supposed to sign up for one of those when we arrive. So look for a posting or a flyer indicating when authors are reading once you get to the con.

Hope to see you there!

For the networking panel, I suggest you start by discussing Bluetooth versus Wireless versus USB cables, just to watch the expression on their faces....

thats just evil.

Of course, I suppose one piece of advice he can give in the "how not to avoid writing" part will be "not to start a room painting project while writing"

Yes, mentioning painting projects would be good. Perhaps it's time for the rumored naked painting photos?

Looks good.

Any chance you might tape your voice and put it online?

I've looked into podcasting a reading but I'm too busy to make that work at the moment. Perhaps this summer.

I'm planning to attend the "virtual Philcon" in Second Life, but it doesn't look like any of your sessions are the ones they're broadcasting there. Oh, well. I wave my pixels in your general direction. :-)

I don't think any of my panels are the virtual con either. I asked for some of those panels, but since I don't have a presence at SL it's probably best I'm not on those panels. Would have been fun though.

The religion panels are usually interesting, although you have to be careful when you're up front talking about religion. Generally, the SF community is OK with diversity and different opinions though.

Too bad you can't make it. Is it too far away or are you just too busy?

Generally the religions panels are interesting. Some of the con is being cast virtually at Second Life. Perhaps you could catch some of those? Live vicariously through those of us actually in Philly?

Thanks! I'm hoping I get one. If not, they've got me quite a few panels, so that should keep me busy and out of trouble.

Maybe.
