Whew! That professor with VISA problems finally got them all resolved and showed up and took over the class . . . so I have more time to write! I intend to do that as soon as I finished this little update. But I had to update, because . . .

I finished chapter 14!

And I FINALLY got to the top of the rollercoaster and nudged the car over the edge. It's all downhill from here. In fact, looking at my notes, the only thing they say are: Big Battle, followed by Epilogue. I'd get all excited and say I'm close to being finished except that in the last book when I reached this point and thought there was only 30-40 pages left . . . I ended up with closer to 100 by the time I was done. I don't think that will happen here, but I'm also not holding my breath.

I am feeling confident that the book will be finished and rewritten before my self-imposed deadline of January. I feel as if I have more rewrites here than in book 2, especially regarding one character in particular, but we'll see. My first reader seems to be reacting well to the story as a whole.

In other writing news: It's less than 2 WEEKS before the release of Cracked Throne in hardcover. I've been so focused on school that it sort of snuck up on me. But now I'm getting excited. A little self-pimpage here: If you haven't preordered Cracked Throne or were holding out for Skewed Throne in paperback, order from Clarkesworld Books and you'll be entered into the contest. Perhaps you'll win a free copy of one of the books! And if you don't win, then you'll get a signed copy of the book anyway, so you'll still win. It's win-win! The last day to preorder before the contest ends is October 31st, so enter, enter, enter.

OK, self-pimpage off. I better get cracking (ha-ha) on chapter 15 of Vacant Throne, the big battle sequence that will probably go on forever. I'm excited. (I'm grinning in glee in case you can't tell.) Here's the wordage meter.

Sooooooo close! So very, very close!

Very cool and congrats. I'll have to get my copy of Cracked Throne and get you to sign it when I see you at Norwescon.

And I've already registered for Norwescon, so I'll definitely be there! Good to know I'll know SOMEONE there. *grin*
