As suggested by [livejournal.com profile] rolanni, those of us not fortunate enough to be dehydrating on flights to Worldcon are throwing a party! [livejournal.com profile] rolanni has ordered the pizza. I believe [livejournal.com profile] kinzel is the DJ. *grin*

I fully intended to attend the actual Worldcon, but then my brother planned his wedding for that weekend. And what's worse, I hear that DAW is throwing some kind of HUGE ASS PARTY and won't be at World Fantasy, which I am attending.

I feel . . . left out. I want to meet DAW authors. I want to talk my editor into buying another trilogy. I want a drink.

But NO! NO! I'm here in NY pretending that I'm writing book 3 of my current trilogy and convincing myself that school can't possibly start on Monday because I'M NOT READY! Summer is not over, dammit! I protest! I've still got 40% of my book to write!

*pant pant wheeze*

Rant over.

In other news, I managed to write a little over a thousand words today, pack for the wedding, buy the last few wedding presents for other people that I'm bringing, pack my bags for school, print out syllabi for all four classes, and attempt to get a signing set up for November at the local Waldenbooks. So take that all you Worldconners enjoying yourself out in California! Just . . . take that!

*grin*

Saturday night is the DAW shindig if you change your mind...

Yeah about school next week. *shudder*

We need to make some of those life-size cardboard cutouts of jpsorrow and myself so you or someone else can prop us up at the DAW party.

My daughter starts first grade in 4 days. How the heck did that happen??? It can't be more than a week since she finished kindergarten...

Cardboard cuttouts are a start. Interactive holograms would be so much cooler--right up till the moment someone handed holo-you a drink and it fell to the ground :-)

No, no, we'd have a holodeck, so the holograms of us would be able to drink themselves under the table, then reset and start all over again.

This is a good idea. How can we vicariously be there? Perhaps someone who's going can take pictures and we can insert ourselves into the background and pretend we were there.

You bastard! You're going to be there? It sounds like it's going to be a great get together. Lots of DAW authors, from what I hear.

My brother is really going to hear about this. For the rest of his life.

Take pictures for me and [livejournal.com profile] dsnight, will ya? And make certain Sheila knows how upset I am that I'm not there. Ply her with drinks. Then maybe she won't remember I wasn't there.

You got it. I only have my cell camera, but it doesn't do too badly. I will do that thing.

Just think what that would do for my image if i walked in with handsome gents on either arm. (So what if they're made of cardboard? At my age, I take what I can get!)

We could probably photoshop something that you could print out.

In my case, just tape me up on a wall somewhere, since that's where I tend to end up at parties anyway :-P

Went to the DAW Books panel yesterday, and you gents were enthusiastically endorsed. (You should have heard Sheila talking about Jig--had everybody laughing.)

I took a pic of Betsy and Sheila to upload here...but now I can't figure out how to! Geez I hate being stupid.

Aw ... thanks, Sherwood!

If you want to e-mail that pic to me, I can upload and link it here. I'd love to see what these wonderful folks actually look like!

Love the Inda icon, by the way!

I'm not going to Worldcon either but I'd love to go and meet all those neat bloggers and authors I've been corresponding with lately. But the Atlantic is a lot of water to cross for me just for one weekend so I'm going to have to content myself with just blogging about SF to the other stay at homes.

Hey, I'd like that pic myself. You can send it to jpalmatier@sff.net if you'd like. I'd appreciate it. Any other pics you think I might find interesting as well. Thanks!

My brother's wedding was more important. And I understand the "lot of water to cross". I won't be attending Worldcon next year because of the Pacific.

Well at least I had a very productive weekend of blogging. I only put up on article and I came two hits shy of breaking our visitor record (on a Sunday of all things, Sundays are usually deader than doornails).

Summer is over, sorry. It seems to have ended two weeks early here in the UK. The beginning of the summer was crap, we had one month of glorious weather and then caput. Summer in England is like a party that starts to late, it's awesome while it's in full swing but before you know it, it's over. Crap.
