For those you who just can't wait, you can buy an ARC of The Cracked Throne illegally here. This is the uncorrected proof of the book in trade paperback. They ship these out to reviewers before the actual book appears so that reviews can appear at the same time as the book, if not before. It has all the errors that no one caught in it, as well as minor corrections that I made that hadn't made it to the copy yet. Hopefully all the errors got fixed before the book went to print.

If you don't want to pay for it, I'll be running a contest in September in which the prize will be an ARC. You can try to win that one, which I'll send before the actual release of the book.

So . . . what did you think? Of Cracked Throne. Insecure writers want to know!

you, m'dear, continue to have a fantastic voice in your books. like i said when i finished the first one, i dont like first person, nor do i like female protagonists.
i have had to amend that, seeing as i thoroughly enjoy the throne books.
your attention to sensory details is incredible. really makes the world live.
i would say you will have to come pry the arc out of my dead, grasping hands if you want it back, but i did promise to return it. *sigh*
those are first impressions. currently pondering how long it will take for a reread so i can digest all the plot.
also. blue people. whoa. that there was a lot of fire. and fiery death.
erm, gonna stop babbling now. this is one of the least coherent bits of feedback i have ever given. i blame all the medication i am on currently

*heaves loud sigh of relief* I'm seriously worried about Cracked, since everyone and their grandmother is going to compare it to Skewed. And it's not the same kind of book.

And I'm worried about the blue people. I figured the fire would be a nice counterpoint to all the water images in Skewed (river, etc). But you have a thing for fire, don't you?

Feel free to reread at your hearts content. And share with [livejournal.com profile] libwitch if she wants to read it. I don't need it back any time soon. Fangirling is appreciated. I'm still anxious about Cracked's reception.

it definately reads different than cracked, but it is obviously part of the greater story. and hell, it SHOULD read differently. the protagonist went through changes, dare i say character development, in the first book. the second shouldnt be just a clone.
there are enough fantasy series that clone like that, thank you very much.
the fire image was nice and violent and appropriate.
try not to worry too much dear. we all know people will compare them. its how readers are. but, the ones that honestly loved the first one will love the second. you have a strong character, with a strong story to be told. all is well.
