Happy St. Pat's Day everyone! I am not currently wearing green, but will change before leaving for Lunacon. I won't be putting on my leprechan outfit or anything, but I once got pinched until bruised in grade school because I wasn't wearing any green (I initially had no idea WHY I was being pinched and the giggling other students didn't inform me; needless to say I was pissed when I found out). I've been traumatized about this day since. However, I will attempt to drown my trauma in a bar tonight at Lunacon. I'm certain I'll be able to find some other willing participants as well.

Just found out there's an article in the Williamsport, PA, paper about me, the book, and the signing coming up at Otto Bookstore on April 7th. Nice to know, although I haven't seen it yet.

And lastly, talked to my brother last night since it was his birthday and we had a long, interesting conversation about writing. All three of us (I have two brothers, no sisters) are writers; in fact we're all sci-fi/fantasy writers. I'm the fantasy writer really; they both write sci-fi mostly. Anyway, the younger brother is writing a Mechwarrior book right now and recently showed me the first chapter. It's written well; still needs some work but he's well down the writing road at this point. My other brother (also younger than me) is more of a humorous writer. Those who've read The Skewed Throne know that I can't write humor. We once started a novel where I'd write one scene, then my brother would pick it up where I left off and write the next, and then back to me, etc. I started with a warrior reading a "Draegynslayer Wanted" poster (keep in mind we were both in high school at the time). In the next scene, the warrior suddenly had a weiner dog for a sidekick, lots of scenes written from the dog's perspective. Later, when they get to town and the warrior is at the arena, a Mariachi band strikes up. Can you imagine a Mariachi band in The Skewed Throne?

I think it was obvious which scenes were written by which brother.

Anyway, writing with my brother was great fun because it did get me to at least ATTEMPT humor. I realize though that there is a huge amount of spontaneity in humor . . . which I don't possess. It's strange because I can be humorous in person, on occasion, with enough alcohol involved (I have set off [livejournal.com profile] jennifer_dunne . . . and those who know her know what I'm talking about), but I can't be humorous on paper. *sigh*

No real point to this post except to wish everyone a Happy St. Pat's Day! Later!

A heads up (or duck and cover) anghara says the Luna Con hotel "happens to be in the throes of a major reconstruction" and "(as far as I can tell) central gathering area which isn't being renovated".

Her actual post: http://anghara.livejournal.com/69557.html

Have fun and watch out for the construction. :-)Cross posted in Jennifer_Dunne's lj.

Thanks for the warning. I found out how bad the hotel was once I got there, but didn't get your warning message until after the first panel, when I had a breather to check my email. It was indeed bad. I had a spitting toilet.

I was afraid I'd missed you and Jennifer-dunne. I tried. :-)

Sounds like you've taken away some memories you'll cherish for a lifetime. You can't top a spitting toilet and children trying to adopt you very easily. *laughs*.
