Happy New Year, everyone! And mine started off great. While participating in the local First Night event (see here for more information) I missed an incredibly important phone call: friend [livejournal.com profile] pbray had gone to B&N and found MY BOOK on the shelf. But even more incredible, the B&N had done an entire window display of my book. Granted this is not because my book is so stellar that it was chosen out of all of the books coming out this month for a window display, but because I have a scheduled signing at the bookstore later this month. So I went down today and took pictures of myself standing in front of my window display. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the pictures to upload to my website. The files are too big. So I can't post it here yet; I'll work on getting that done somehow. I also went into the bookstore and stood by my book, secretly hoping that someone would come by and pick up a copy. But that didn't happen. No one wandered by murmuring, "I know I need a fantasy book, but what to buy, what to buy???" either. *sigh* So instead I made sure it was turned face in all possible locations, then went and made sure [livejournal.com profile] pbray's books were also all turned face out. So far, [livejournal.com profile] pbray has been the first to find and/or see everything regarding my book: first to see the review in Locus, first to see the ad in Locus, first to see the window display and the book available to the general public.

So, moral of the story: The book is out there! Go buy it!!

Also, first-novel authors are a sad lot.

Hee! I feel like your secret stalker, or in this case not-so-secret stalker.

Next time remember to bring your cell phone and have it turned on, so you can get these incredibly important messages.

The window display is incredibly cool.

AWESOME!!!

That is very cool Josh. I can just see you lurking there, trying to look as casual as the cat stalking a bird, just waiting for someone to take the bait so you could pounce, waving dagger-shaped pens and exclaiming wildly about autographs.

At least that how _I_ would have played it.

I'm excited. I'll have to start looking for the mailman with my preorded copy of "The Skewed Throne".

Not sad, just excited. I think I'd be exactly the same, and I'll be following the sales with interest. Not sure if we can get it here in CA. I'll look it up on Chapters.

Yep, it's there. Guess I'll just have to buy it now  This is just the jacket blurb, isn't it?

About the Book
Twice in the history of the city of Amenkor, the White Fire had swept over the land. Over a thousand years ago it came from the east, covering the entire city, touching everyone, leaving them unburned--but bringing madness in its wake, a madness that only ended with the death of the ruling Mistress of the city. Five years ago the Fire came again, and Amenkor has been spiraling into ruin ever since. The city's only hope rests in the hands of a young girl, Varis, who has taught herself the art of survival and has been trained in the ways of the assassin. Venturing deep into the heart of Amenkor, Varis will face her harshest challenges and greatest opportunities. And it is here that she will either find her destiny--or meet her doom.

Yup, that's a portion of the jacket blurb. They cut out the middle section, which goes into more detail.
