Amazon.com finally has the cover art for The Skewed Throne up. Since this is a first novel, I figure the cover art is the most important selling point. So I've been watching the site, checking back almost every day, waiting for the art to finally appear. And now I can relax. It has.

On to other things, like checking the sales rankings. I'm currently in the million-mark. But after reading up of some of this ranking stuff, and being told about it by writerly friends, I'm not that concerned with it. So this I might only check every other week or something. I've got more important things to do right now, like prep for World Fantasy.

In other writerly related stuff, I got some business cards printed up this weekend for WFC, ready to hand out. And I'm hoping to get a few other things done today regarding the business end of writing. Oh, and there's that pesky other job.

What have you got in the way of reviews lined up?

I'm not sure what DAW has planned for reviews. I know they have ARCs and send them out to potential reviewers in various places, but . . .

I'll have to ask my editor when I meet her at World Fantasy. Remind me to update you after November 6th.

I'm curious, because I was thinking of having some business cards done (for handing out at conferences) . . . as a writer, what information do you include on your business card? Is it just NAME, "Writer," contact info?

Off to check out your cover art on Amazon . . .

Of course, business cards vary, but here's what I did for mine:

On the left I have the cover of my book The Skewed Throne, obviously very small but still distinguisable. On the right, justified to the right, I put "Author", next line my name, next few lines my address, skipped a few lines, then phone, webpage, and email address.

Once more books are released, I'll change the picture to something else (the current newest book, or perhaps after a while just a generic picture to represent me, or the "JBP" logo on my webpage or something), but for now. . . .

And I went with Author rather than Writer just because. It came before my name for aesthetic reasons.

Thank you!

And by the way--I like your cover. The font they chose for the title is really eye-catching, and the scene depicted in the art is both attractive & dramatic. It raises questions and (I think) makes the casual observer curious about the book. Good luck with it!

Thanks. I've got my fingers crossed, that's for sure. And doing whatever I can to make some sales happen.

I thought WFC was more geered toward editors and publishers - does that mean you get to smooz lots?

It's also for writers. It's just not designed for fans. So there's no masquerade, no gaming, no filk, etc. It's mainly for the people in the business to get together and discuss business. In other words, smooz. *grin*
