The fourth choice reminded me of this old story.

There once was a man who was known as something of a joker, being a wit, a raconteur, a punster, and handy with a bon mot and a quip. However, he was also something of a braggart.

One fine day, when he was in his cups, he made it known that he could follow anything anywhere, including—at which point he indicated a scrunngy old mutt, and said, "inculding that scruffy beast of low estate.

At the near universal cries of, "Yeah, right." he only frowned and told the lot to hold their horses and wait until the dog ambled off. At which time the comedian would do as he had promised to.

Wasn't long until the animal decided to go about on his rounds of the neighborhood, at which point the wit got to his feet and followed him out. So avidly and so well did our subject keep taps on his canine subject that it was not long before he gained the appellation he was known by to his dying day, the wag who tailed the dog.

HA! Great little story. I wonder if Barbara knew of it before she wrote the story. (I'm sure she's heard about it since.)

Not very likely, it's an original with me.
