Today I am staying home on my computer with my cell phone in hand NOT to write, but to help a friend in Denver who is participating in the Urban Dare. Basically, this is a mini-Amazing Race set in one city. You run around and take pictures of your team at the locations given to you as clues. At some locations, you may have to complete some kind of task. It's supposed to take somewhere between 2 to 5 hours to complete and you're only allowed to use certain types of public transportation. You need a camera, of course, and can have a cell phone with you so you can contact friends and get them to help you with the clues. That's what [livejournal.com profile] pbray and I are doing for [livejournal.com profile] jennifer_dunne and her hubby today. The race is set to start in another 5 minutes or so.

Patricia Bray and I were going to do the race in NYC in September, but "someone" will be on a plane flying back from their bike trip that day. So instead our plan it to try for the one in Philadelphia.

BTW, it's supposed to be 100 degress in Denver today.

That sounds really cool. What is your role? You look things up on the internet?

Yeah, our job is to mock them and look things up on the internet if they need it. *grin*

What we really need is a camera crew to follow them around, or at the very least, GPS trackers so we could watch their progress.

The GPS tracking would be cool. We could watch them on a map or something.

if either of them have smartphones that can access Google Maps, there's a feature called Latitude that will let you do this :)

'course, i'm reading later, so this suggestion's probably not much help at the moment :)

Wait, are you going to be in Philadelphia at some point? Should I be making restaurant reservations?

Patricia and I were thinking about doing the Urban Dare in Philly, since she can't do the NYC one. But that isn't until October, so it's a ways away. But if we ARE coming to Philly, I think reservations at a cool Philly restaurant, and company, after the Dare would be great!
