But I especially hate one-line synopses of short stories.

We've been asked to send the table of contents, author names, and ONE-SENTENCE synopses of the stories in our After Hours: Tales from the Ur-bar anthology in to DAW within the next two days. So right now, at this moment, I am attempting to summarize 15 stories, each with one sentence, in a way that makes those stories sound intriguing and interesting and COOL (they're all cool).

I love being an editor.

But I hate being an editor.

Short, but lacking in content. *grin*

I was asked for a one-sentence synopsis of my Zombiesque story, too. Any idea when or why they started asking for those?

I think they want it for marketing, so the sales reps and such know what the book is about and can figure out a way to sell it. I'm not sure when they started asking for them though. The original letter doesn't request one-line short story summaries, just some kind of write-up about the anthology. However the suggestion from John was to do one-liners of each story.

Ummm....

A vampire hunter walks into a bar...
A god and an emperor walk into a bar...
etc.

*ducks and runs*

Imagine the most amazing characters with the coolest plot and the best ending...done uniquely multiple times.

Otherwise, as Sheldon Cooper would put it: "Bazinga!"
