Another light read from Janet Evanovich. I'm not sure why I'm continuing to buy these books, honestly. They're fun, but they only take a day to read and in general they're exactly like all of the previous books. She hasn't done anything much different in a while with her characters or the plots.
In this one, Stephanie Plum is up against what we are to assume is a vampire, hence the title Plum Spooky. All of the Between the Numbers Plum books have had a holiday theme of some sort, and I admit that I really enjoyed Plum Lucky, but I don't really think she went much for the holiday theme here. There's no real mention of any kind of holiday or time of year for the first half of the book, and it could be just another part of the Numbered series. Only in the second half do we start getting hints that it's perhaps October, with mentions of the candy and the bizarre inhabitants of the Barrens. There's some Jersey Devil mentions as well. But no real significant holiday tie-in in my opinion.
So, a nice, fluffy, fun read that will be easily forgotten in another few weeks. Not one of Janet Evanovich's best. I chuckled a couple of times, but the antics of the characters are feeling worn. I haven't burst out laughing with these books in a while.
