Contest Winners! And I ask you to vote.
Jan. 28th, 2009 04:47 pmOK, so I ran a few contests (some with fellow writers) and we now have some winners.
First off, the contest hosted by me, Jim C. Hines (
jimhines), Elizabeth Bear (
matociquala), and Diana Pharoah Francis (
difrancis), where the winner receives the most recent releases from each of us. And the winner is: ERIC MOORE!!!! Congratulations. He'll be receiving a paperback copy of The Vacant Throne from me.
Now for the other contests. They didn't generate as much enthusiasm as I'd hoped. First up is the picture contest, where entrants were supposed to take a picture of someone or something reading Vacant Throne or whatnot. I only received four entries in this contest, so what I'm going to do is leave up to you, the readers to decide which one should win the cool "dagger pen"--a pen in the shape of a dagger. Here are the four entries. Vote for your favorite in the comments section! All of the runners-up will receive a free signed Vacant Throne magnet, so if you see your entry here, send me your mailing address if I don't already have it so I can mail the prizes once they're decided.

I also have a late pic in the "Released to the Wilds" contest, where the first 5 people to send a pic of the paperback of Vacant Throne would receive.
zen_kitty sent in the following pic of the book she snapped at Confusion. That's Larry Smith in the background, thumbing his nose at me.
zen_kitty will receive a signed Vacant Throne magnet.

And lastly, the icon contest. As far as I know, there were only two people who made or used icons related to Vacant Throne or my books during the period stated in the contest:
maiaarts and
bella_lee. Both will receive signed Vacant Throne magnets as well. Send me your mailing addresses as jpalmatier@sff.net so I can send out the magnet!
Thanks for everyone who participated! Keep watch for more contests in the near future. And don't forget about the free DAW paperback give-away done every month over at
dawbooks. All you have to do to enter the contest is comment on one of the entries for that month before the winner is drawn for that month.
