Miscellaneous Post
Nov. 23rd, 2008 10:04 amOK, just some minor things going on.
First, I wrote a bit more on the new novel (still untitled) on Friday and met with the new local writing group, which consists of me,
pbray, and
fireun. We discussed the first chapter of the new book and I was told that it did not totally suck. There were issues (most of which I already figured and are all part of first draft syndrome). Food was had and discussion of many writing things was done. Patricia passed out HER first chapter of HER new book, which we'll discuss the next time we get together. April claimed to have writing done, and Patricia supposedly witnessed said writing on a computer screen, but since I do not have pages in hand I claim no writing happened and have gotten out my tilapia in preparation.
On Saturday, Patricia and I went to see BOLT! It was a good movie, oriented toward kids obviously, but pull of laughs. I am the hamster. Patricia is the cat. I don't know how they nailed our characters so well, but I have begun looking for spycams in my apartment and hope that Patricia is doing the same.
And yes, I do have a ball. *grin*
Let's see . . . I'm preparing the 4th floor for the impending MOM visit. Mostly trying to get the boxes of books off of the main floor and into the storage areas. Which is a challenge since the storage areas are already full. Much creative stacking will be required.
I've also posted a book review of R.M. Meluch's The Myriad over at
dawbooks. If you've read the book, feel free to comment and let others know what you think!
And for those on the OWW (Science Fiction and Fantasy Online Writing Workshop), you too can get a chance to beta read (and sneak peek) the first chapter of the new book! I've posted it over there to see if the OWW veterans pick out the same things as the beta group, just out of curiousity. I'm not looking for nit-pick critiques, just general reactions and thoughts. Oh, and I return crits. *grin*
Lastly, just a reminder about all of the contests going on at the moment. Here's the official list, but it's nearly the last day to get in on the contest for the German edition of "The Skewed Throne", so hurry up and comment on that thread! And times' running out on the library giveaway and the free paperback at the DAW blog.
