AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND . . . It's Done.

After much frustration what with delays caused by flooding, theft, holidays, family, and that pesky day job, I finally finished The Vacant Throne. Yes. Completely. No more epilogue. I slayed that this morning/afternoon. Remember I said it would be, like, 5 pages? Pfft! It was 10 pages. I put off lunch for 2 hours just to finished it.
I like it. I think it can be smoothed a little, streamlined perhaps, made a little more powerful with some slight alterations, but it's done. And, at the very end, you finally get to see why the third book is called The Vacant Throne.
I'm speaking first draft of course. Now come the revisions, which will be more extensive than the revisions done to Cracked Throne at this stage, but less intense than the revisions done to Skewed Throne. Mainly, I need to add in more scenes! So that some of the scenes I just wrote will make sense. But I'm going to give myself the weekend as a break before I dive into that.
Let's see . . . in other news, I finally called the insurance company about the theft from storage, making it clear that I did NOT think that we should pay, that the storage people should be responsible, etc, etc, etc. They said they'd look into it. I still need to get the serial numbers for the TV and the laptop down to the police. I'm hoping that in a fit of universal karmic bliss, the people that robbed me will be caught BECAUSE they left the box for the TV there. You see, the box had the serial number of the TV on it. If they hadn't left it, I wouldn't know the serial number at all.
Here's the downside: the insurance company wants me to make a list of all of the CDs, DVDs, and tapes that I had. At least the ones I remember. So guess what I'm going to be doing for the next few days, now that the book is finished?
Anyway, here's the final word count for the first draft of book 3, soon to change during revisions. I'm a little over my word limit. *sigh* I'm sure I can find some things to cut while I add in the necessary new material.
