Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! I have vanquished the hordes that were attempting to keep me from writing and managed to actually write tonight. In fact, I finished the chapter. If you can't tell, I'm on a writing high. The energy is exploding in my chest and I wish I could write more, but the partner has returned home from his restauranteering and so I'm now distracted. But I have an update! An update after weeks of languishing with barely an LJ entry, let alone an update. Hee hee hee!

The Vacant Throne

So it would appear that book 3 will be slightly longer than book 2. Not by much. With one chapter left to go, and an epilogue, I'd estimate that it will be 50 pages longer than book 2, max, probably less.

Famous last words, eh?

So today, for 5 hours or so, I painted on the 4th floor. I managed to get all of the cupboards in the kitchen painted brown, plus the shelf above the counter, and the door into the closet in the kitchen. So the kitchen is essentially done (except for the stone tiling we want to put up above the counter and below the shelf . . . that will happen MUCH later). Once again, I tried painters tape. I decided I'd try it again because some friends offered some advice on how to make it work properly. So I tried the advice and either I did it wrong or it didn't work. So I have now vowed that I will never use painters tape again. Never! I can make a straighter edge doing it free-hand and have much less to touch up later on.

So let's see, that leaves the pipes (I thought painting them brown would look especially cool, since I'm going for a "forest" or "jungle" kind of look and I thought brown pipes would look like tree trunks and branches . . . but the partner shot that down; I haven't decided how much weight I'm putting into his advice as yet, since he didn't help me paint today) and two doors left to paint. And I need to get the doors to the kitchen cupboards back on once the paint dries.

Bookshelves have yet to be built of course. And I need to build a door jamb (or whatever that ledge on the floor is beneath the door) to fit our door so I'm not paying to heat the outside this winter.

Then I need to move everything in. Perhaps before the snow comes. Perhaps not.

PS--The partner did paint today . . . but he painted the 3rd floor, which as far as I can tell is fine and doesn't need painting. But to be fair he was working today while I painted.
