It has come to my attention that my latest book, The Vacant Throne, has been nominated for an award, the David Gemmell Legend Award for Fantasy. It is apparently a new award given to the best fantasy novel released in 2008 "written in the 'spirit' of the late, great David Gemmell . . ." There appear to be two phases: a voting period on a longlist of fantasy novels published in 2008 that might fit the award requirements, followed by a shortlist, from which the winner is chosen. The shortlist is chosen based on the votes of the general readership voting on the longlist.

However, voting does not begin until December 26th, 2008.

BUT, you can leave comments on the site about the books, so CALLING ALL MINIONS! I need you to head to the David Gemmell Legend Award for Fantasy website and leave comments convincing everyone there that The Vacant Throne is the most awesomest book evah and everyone should read it or the universe will end. Or something like that. You can tell everyone how awesome The Vacant Throne is here.

There are some other nominees of course, including [livejournal.com profile] pbray and [livejournal.com profile] jimhines.

So go forth and be convincing!! And when December 26th rolls around, I'll remind everyone to start voting. For me, of course. *grin*

What am I doing there? I write light fantasy. I'm not supposed to get nominated for awards!

Also, congrats to you and [livejournal.com profile] pbray! :-)

Goblins have every right to be standing next to the warriors in the awards line. Isn't that what you're books are all about? *grin*

How do I choose? Can I vote for everyone?

Um . . . that might mean that your vote doesn't really count.

Awesome! Congratulations!

I've just started reading the Skewed Throne, but I'll try to ratchet up my pace so I can give you a shout-out. If the Vacant Throne is near as good, you'll deserve it.

You've got lots of time to read the books before the voting ends. It starts on December 26th, but I think the voting is open until May or something. I'll have to doublecheck.

I is good minion

I just joined up and poured out the true story of how I found your books and the way they have changed my life.

And I am using the minion icon as my avatar - the lady who runs the site loves it!!!!

So go forth all the rest of you fans *poke* and sing the praises of the Throne of Amenkor series!!!! (Gods I hope I spelled everything right :)

Egads! You certainly are a good minion! Now if we could only get copies of the books over there for them to read . . . *sigh* The trials of imports and all that. But thanks for the good words at the site!
