And lo! I have slayed . . .

. . . the tax beast. Got my taxes finished this morning. The government owes me a few thousand dollars. I owe NY State over $800. In the end, I'm still up by quite a bit. I've efiled the taxes I could efile, and I will mail the tax forms to Kentucky, since they said I couldn't efile them. *sigh*
In other news, I spent the afternoon organizing all of my paperwork and my desk area, so that's now nice and clear and . . . well, organized. I have a giant box of papers that need shredding and another of just plain garbage.
I also ran down to the local outlet furniture warehouse because I saw some chairs I wanted to get for the upstairs gaming table yesterday . . . and the chairs I wanted had sold this morning. I was pissed. I mean, I saw them just before they closed last night but didn't want to buy them then because I wanted my partner to see them, and I didn't want to buy something if I owed a ton of taxes. So as soon as I knew the government owed ME, I ran to the store, got there maybe an hour after they opened . . . and they were sold already. Let's say I may have used some naughty language. I really like the chairs. And this is outlet, so of course I can't get them anywhere else and can't expect any more to show up at the store.
I used the excess energy to help with the paper organizing.
So I think I'm mostly caught up with all of the crap that has kept me from hanging around LJ much, and that has also kept me from writing. The only thing left is grading the exams I gave last week. I should be doing them now, but I seriously need a break. This past week has been non-stop with the stress and the angsting and the effort to keep myself from strangling students. (Oh, I caught one cheating on the exam; THAT's going to be fun to handle this coming week.)
Here's to this week being a little calmer.
Things to look forward to on my LJ:
--a post about the outcome of the lotto tickets I won
--a writing post about the muddle in the middle of that book you're writing
--another author introduction
