So I said I'd announce the winners of the Commendable Crit Contest (run at the Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Online Writing Workshop) on March 15th . . . so here I am! This will be a drive-by post though, since I'm at Lunacon and there only free wireless is in the lobby. (I'm scrunched into a chair with the laptop in my lap. I managed to claim a spot before most of the con-goers woke up.)

There were two categories: newbies to the workshop and veterans of the workshop. The first place winners win a years worth of free access to the workshop and signed copies of all three of my books in hardcover (The Skewed Throne [Amazon; Mysterious Galaxy], The Cracked Throne [Amazon; Mysterious Galaxy], and The Vacant Throne [Amazon; Mysterious Galaxy]). The second place winners get a half-years worth of free access to the workshop and signed hardcover copies of the first two books (The Skewed Throne and The Cracked Throne). And the third place winners win a free copy of my first book, The Skewed Throne. So without further ado, the winners are:

Newbies

Frist Place Winner: Krista Hutley
Second Place Winner: Sylvia Hunter ([livejournal.com profile] sylvia_rachel)
Third Place Winner: Steve Chapman

Veterans

Frist Place Winner: Kathryn Allen
Second Place Winner: Rhonda Garcia
Third Place Winner: S.E. Curnow ([livejournal.com profile] makoiyi)

I'll be getting in touch with each of you to get your address and whatnot so I can mail out the books. Also to ask how you'd like the books to be signed (to whom, special messages, ect). For those that won the free access to the workshop, I'll get in touch with the workshop managers and I assume they'll get in touch with you.

I hope everyone had fun with the contest and learned a little something about their own writing in the process!

I know you already have a copy of the hardcover of Skewed Throne. What would you like to have: hardcovers of Cracked Throne and Vacant Throne instead? Or still go with the hardcovers of Skewed and Cracked (and you give them as gifts or donate them to the library or whatever you want to do with them)? I don't know if you have the hardcovers of Cracked or Vacant.

::examines bookshelves thoughtfully:: I've got the hardcover Skewed you sent me (the inscription reads, in part, Topiary squirrels rock!) and a hardcovered Vacant that I bought, with the signed bookplate in it. So perhaps best to go with Skewed and Cracked as planned -- I can think of lots of people I could give a signed copy of Skewed to, to get 'em hooked ... ;^)

Sounds good. I've already got your address I believe, so now that I'm back from the con I'll try to get them in the mail shortly.

Yay! Congrats to the winners and thanks again for running the contest.

Would it mess up your book calculations for me to have 'The Cracked Throne'? I'd really love a signed copy to match my other two. No problem if you can't.

Sue

Not a problem at all! I was going to suggest it actually, since I know you already have the first one. I just checked and I don't have your address in my address book. If you could send it to me again that would be great (and this time I'll add it to my address book).

Hey, I still need your address in order to send you the copy of the book you won.

Congrats to the winners! And many thanks Joshua!

As for OWW, I was very impressed with the critiques people gave. Signed up official like and it has already paid dividends on another story. Well worth the time and money.

Thanks again.
