World Fantasy Con . . .

I'm so not prepared. I have to be packed and ready to go by Monday afternoon, since I'm flying out from the second home (State College), not the real home (Binghamton). I'm driving down, teaching Monday through Wednesday, catching the flight on Thursday for a hellish day of flying, I'm sure, then hitting the bar Thursday night, where I will most likely join a drunken
pbray and attempt to catch up. Then the con.
At this point, I'm scheduled for . . . nothing. No panels. No readings. I will be at the autographing session on Friday, so if you're going to con you can catch me there. Otherwise, look in the bar. This is more of the professional con--meaning it's mostly professionals and everyone is trying to network their asses off. Meeting their editors and agents to discuss business. All that jazz. Except neither my editor nor my agent will be there, so if you're going and need something to do, look me up. At Albacon, I managed to get a bunch of writers into a game of darts, where we subsequently destroyed over half of the darts while managing to hit the actual dart board approximately 30% of the time. It was great fun! And I'm sure it was entertaining to the rest of the bar patrons. We had a fairly wide radius of empty tables around us after the first few dart throws. I'm sure we can find something similar to astound and embarrass our colleagues with in Austin.
So let me know if your going and I'll add you to my stalki . . . my friends-attending list.
I expect free alcohol, BTW. I prefer white russians, top shelf stuff. I'm not a cheap date.

Date: 2006-10-28 09:07 pm (UTC)How does it happen that the unknown poet gets to do a reading with other poets and the novelist doesn't get to read? That seems kind of odd.
I'm sure we'll trip over each other in the bar. *g*
