If any writers (or wannabe writers) are within commuting distance of this upcoming conference, I'd say, "GO!" If for no other reason, writers conferences are great for simply being able to associate with other writers. It's a way to commune with those who have similar goals as well as similar trepidations.
I attended a similar conference last spring, hosted by IECRWA (Inland Empire Chapter of Romance Writers of America), here in Spokane. Like the STAR conference it was open to writers of all genres. Probably the biggest draw back to a smaller conference such as these is a limited range of interests in any attending agents and editors. Even the agent from right here in Spokane does not handle what I write. But then again, I've found that even the major conferences do not always have an across the board representation of genres/categories in the attending agents and editors. Dave
