I am a novel writer myself (in terms of length, not uniqueness) so I know how satisfying it can be to pack a whole story into a small package. Kind of makes you wished you smoked so you could have a cigarette, doesn't it?
You know, I forgot you were an OWW alum, too. I was a beta tester on the old Del Rey version of that site! In fact, one of my novels won the very first Editor's Choice for SF chapters (still not sold, although my agent tried). The first fantasy SF Editor's Choice was won by some guy named Jim Butcher. Wonder whatever happened to him? -)
