Fundraising for Literacy!
Nov. 4th, 2011 10:03 amI'm part of the local Star Trek club here in Binghamton, the U.S.S. Serling, and we're holding a fundraiser for the local literacy group Literacy Volunteers of Broome/Tioga Counties this coming November 20th from 1-4pm at the Vestal Barnes & Noble. Essentially it's a bookfair, and a percentage of all of the books sold using the bookfair code ID #10600476 will be donated to the program. The event will include localish authors Nancy Holzner and Chris Moriarty, as well and myself and Benjamin Tate. We'll be there from 1-4pm signing copies of our books and trying to get everyone in the store to use the code when they buy books (not just our books) to help out the program. Here's the bookfair flyer with a coupon and code for the event. (Can anyone see the bookfair flyer when they click this link? It's a pdf file, but when I click it I get nothing.)
The good news is that even if you can't make the actual event (because I know most of you don't live near Vestal, NY) YOU CAN STILL HELP OUT! All you have to do is go to any Barnes and Noble and give them the coupon on the flyer with our book code OR go online to bn.com/bookfair and enter the code there when buying books and that percentage will still be donated to the cause! You can do that from November 20th through the 24th, not just on the day of the event. So save up all of your book buying (and don't forget that we're entering the gift-giving season . . . why not get a head start!) and make that purchase you were going to make anyway from November 20th-24th! Use the code and you'll help fight illiteracy and get more people reading!
Spread the word! Link back to this post or send the flyer on to your friends!
