I thought I'd mention a couple of books that have hit the shelf recently. The first came out a few weeks ago and I didn't know! Since this is an author that I like to read, I was shocked when I found out. I usually keep track of these things, but I guess this comes from not having a Waldenbooks at the local mall anymore, which is where I used to find out about all the new books. I'm relegated to finding these things online now, and there aren't any convenient shelves to browse online. (There's a B&N locally, but I almost never get over to that side of town and stop in.)
The first book is Blood in the Water by Juliet E. McKenna, the second book in her newest fantasy series.

I read her first five book series released by Tor and loved them. An easy reading style and interesting characters. Certainly an interesting plot once you get into the books. I bought the first book in her next series in hardcover from Tor . . . and then waited and waited and waited for the rest of the series to be released. Apparently, Tor dropped it after the first book and I never heard or realized. I ended up meeting Juliet at Boskone by random chance and went all fan-girlie on her and found out then that the books had been released but were with a different publisher and pretty much had only come out in the UK. I ended up getting the books (the UK versions of course) and she sent me her newest book at the time, the first book in a new series. And the new series is being released in the US through Solaris. You can find them at your local bookstore or online.
And now book 2 is out. I've already bookmarked the third one on my wishlist, coming out in June here in the US.
The second book was released much more recently . . . like, yesterday. This one's an urban fantasy and is the third book in the series: Dead Matter by Anton Strout. I've read the first book in the series but haven't managed to get to the second just yet. However I bought the third as soon as I saw it on the shelf.

I don't have a long complicated story about Anton Strout (that I can relate publicly anyway). We've had some good times at various signings of the Magnificent Seven though. Remember that time we went to the signing in Ledgewood and as soon as we got there and got set up the power went out and they couldn't sell any books because the registers weren't working? HAHAHAHAHAHA*sniffleheadshake*!!!!! Good times.
But check out those books! Good authors, good times, and only a few zombies involved.
