"Gah!" said the Zombie
Oct. 9th, 2008 08:58 amHaven't had much time to spare for LJ lately, so posts will be only once or twice a week for a while. But thought I'd check in today. Lots of grading of papers and writing of lectures and other schoolwork kind of stuff. Exams were last week, so things should settle down a little bit over the next few weeks.
I have a day of recovery today before heading off to Albacon tomorrow. Hope to see those in the area there! Looks like I'll be in the bar Friday night after my Zombie panel, so check there if you'd like to find me. What am I doing today during my recovery? Umm . . . grading. *sigh*

dawbooks I've posted a discussion of Mercedes Lackey and her books, since she's got a new Valdemar novel out this month, called Foundation, along with the paperback of Reserved for the Cat. Head over and voice your opinion of the Valdemar books--what your favorite is and why, etc--as well as whether you're looking forward to the new book.
We're coming up on the paperback release of the third (and final . . . for a while anyway) book in the Throne of Amenkor series on January 6, 2009. I plan on running a bunch of contests and suchlike things and thought I'd throw out a general call for suggestions. What kind of contests do you find yourself participating in? What have been your favorite contests in the past, and least favorite? Since most of you probably already have the Amenkor books (and if you don't, shame on you! *grin*), so what kinds of prizes would interest you? I already know of three contests I plan on running, but there's always room for more. And keep in mind that the idea is to try to spread the news about the books release.
Along the same lines, I'm hoping that everyone out there will help me do a big online push for the release. If you're interested in helping out, I'm willing to do ANYTHING to get the word out. If you'd like to post something on LJ or any of your other blogs or webpages near the release date, I'd appreciate it. So contact me if you'd like to do an interview (with me or my characters), if you'd like to review the book(s) on your site, if you'd like to run your own contest, if you'd like to do your own author introduction on your blog, ANYTHING that you'd like to do to help others find the books and hopefully enjoy them. You can contact me at jpalmatier@sff.net with what you'd like to do, or leave a comment here with your idea. I'll be putting out a more calls like this as the date grows closer, but thought I'd put the idea out there before we get too close to the craziness of the holidays. And thanks ahead of time for even considering doing something to help promote the release.
Now . . . but to grading. *sigh*
