And so it begins again . . .
Apr. 1st, 2008 10:13 pmSo I managed to write over 71000 words during the last Novel in 90 (
novel_in_90) . . . and the book still isn't done. Gah! So I joined up again for the next session. I should finish the book in the first 6 weeks of this Nin90 round, and then I'll spend the rest of the round revising the book. I need to have the book turned in by early June, so I can revise it again based on my editor's comments before the deadline in August.
If you aren't familiar with Nin90, it's a community here on LJ with, perhaps, more realistic goals for the aspiring writer out there, especially those with day jobs. Basically, if you join, you try to write an average of 750 words a day for 90 days. That's about 3 double-spaced pages a day. And note the "average" in that statement. If you miss a day, you try to make it up later (while suffering the mocks of the other participants). You post your daily word count, including the zeroes, for praise and for mocking if necessary. It's a good motivator, even for writers who already have something published. I'm participating, and
pbray and
mizkit have participated in the past, as well as other published writers here on LJ. I fully admit that I have days with 0 word count, basically due to the day job interfering with the writing life.
So if you have a book you wish to write, perhaps this would be a good way to get yourself motivated to write and/or finish it. Check the community out (if I've done the link above correctly). You can watch me go down in a ball of burning flame. *grin*
