First, I did a guest blog today over at Witchy Chicks, where I write about why I write and why I write fantasy. Go check it out! And thanks to the "Witchy Chicks" for the invite.

Next week, I'll be guest blogging about inventing a religion for your fantasy novel, so watch for that.

And yesterday I finished up yet another chapter in the unending novel, so I figured I'd do a little word count update:

Zokutou word meterZokutou word meter
138,750 / 100,000
(138.8%)

Well of Sorrows

And can I say YAY! for the Zokutu Word Meter being restored! YAY! But it appears that I've broken it. All that cuttery in the future . . . *sigh* Perhaps that's why I just don't want to end it. If I end it, then I have to start over again and rip it to pieces.

Oh well. Off to add more words.

OK, I've managed to finally get ahold of the Kirkus Review of The Vacant Throne [Amazon; Mysterious Galaxy]. When I posted it before, I hadn't actually seen it yet. The pdf file wouldn't download because of the dial-up connection. But here's a quote from it that makes me happy:

"Some authors embark on a series of novels with no end in sight, but Joshua Palmatier's fantastical Throne of Amenkor trilogy constitutes a fully formed epic. The books follow the dark intrigue and vicious battles populating the timeline of the mystical city, where magic and ancient myths loom large."

Pretty good for a Kirkus Review, or so I've heard. Especially regarding fantasy and SF.

BTW: I've been told that this review now means I have "literary cachet" and that it's some kind of " . . . miracle. Honestly." I've also been informed that it comes with "a pipe and a sweater with elbow patches."

I'll go wait by the mailbox for the mailman.
