Took a break from the revisions over the weekend, which is a good thing. Spent lots and lots of money on plants and other minor things. Spent lots of quality time with the partner as well.
Worked on the revision to chapter 7 today and discovered that yes, the revisions to the second half will take longer than those to the first half. Although when I looked through my notes for the second half, I realized I didn't have as much to revise as I originally thought. But the revisions are different. I have to alter character motivations slightly, and I have to include small references to minor things at every stage possible so that the nuances can form into a much bigger pictures later on. I find these little tweaks harder to do (and more time-consuming) than the "insert an extra 5-page scene here" additions.
It's the cascade effect. You insert a sentence. But that sentence forces a minor change in the next sentence, which forces a significant change in the NEXT sentence, which forces a rearrangement of the material in the next two paragraphs, etc, etc, etc.
But I think chapter 7 revisions are done. A reread tomorrow to check on flow, and then on to chapter 8. And I can mark off two of the notes in my list.
