*laughs* I don't generally react "how could you" to things because... well, there's very little that authors I've read haven't done at some point or another. I'm more likely to be unpleasantly surprised than pleasantly. :D
I'll tell you this: in book one, I found Varis and the world interesting enough to keep reading. In book two, I began to really care about the people around her and what happened to them; however, book three is where I'm actually starting to love HER.
