Not For The Faint Of Heart

WARNING!!! Do not read beyond this if you have even the faintest imagination!!! You have been warned.

Today and yesterday, due to the extreme heat, I wrote . . . in the nude.

Yes! Yes! In the nude! And it was still too hot. I ended up writing in the morning until lunch. Took a break for lunch. Got back to work . . . and gave up at 2pm or thereabouts both days. It just got WAY to uncomfortable to just sit in the chair, let alone sit in the chair and actually think. (And NOT because I was in the nude, for those of you sniggering out there.)

It's just too damn hot. I know you've read about this on numerous thousands of other LJ entries, but seriously.

I did manage to write though, and get some interesting scenes done. Not as productive as I'd like to be on the tail-end of summer (no pun intended), but the book keeps growing and growing, which is a good thing (and get your mind out of the gutter, even though I put it there). Tomorrow is supposed to mildly less hot, followed by a normal temp Friday, then it's back up to just above normal for the weekend. Here's the word count:

Vacant Throne

What did I learn about writing today? That if I move my characters out of their usual settings . . . I must actually spend time on the new setting. Damn.

Also, believable kissing is a bitch to write. *grin*

Is all in fun. *grin*

...and the thought of you writing in the nude is somehow intriguing me....

BWA!

Read The Skewed Throne. Well. Didn't read. DEVOURED. lml!!! (that's code for the gesture you make with your fingers also known as "rock" or "devil" horns"

lml!

I must beg of you a signed bookplate for the front, as it must go upon my shelf of keepers...

Glad you enjoyed the book. No problem on the bookplate. Just send me an email at the address on my info page with your address in it and I'll mail one off to you.

[identity profile] jpsorrow.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, and include how you'd like it signed ("authorm" or something else) of course.

During the hellwave of '77, my apartment building (no a/c) was sandiwched between two huge buildings and their window units poured hot air onto us. I used to sit in my bikini with my feet in a bucket of water with a couple of ice cubes and write. (Bikini because my wide open windows opened onto said big building's windows. It was bad enough at night when the helicopters used to buzz the building and shine the searchlights into our windows every other night or so.)

Yes, I made sure the blinds were drawn first of course. *grin*

Congrats on the book release. I ordered my copy and email today said it had shipped. Looking forward to it.

Thank you!

(I got Skewed Throne a while back, and it is inching toward the top of the pile--I volunteered for two juries this year, which is why the pile got so massive.)

nude with a nipple ring.

I am mean, you can't leave that part out.

No imagination whatsoever. Nope. None. :Covers face with hand and giggles helplessly:

...I suppose we'll forever remember these as "Vacant Throne-- the nude chapters."

[identity profile] doctodd.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I wonder if we'll be able to tell which chapters are au naturale.

As for believeable kissing, maybe you should research some romance novels.

[identity profile] jpsorrow.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I was trying to steer clear of romance novels. I mean really--Varis and romance? Doesn't mix well. Hence the problem I think. *sigh*

Not so much to make the plot romance-ish, but for inspiration on how to write a believable kissing scene.

I kept thinking about the chair. I mean, is it vinyl? Leather? Wood? Please tell me you used a nice cushion to keep your skin from sticking.

[identity profile] jpsorrow.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
The chair has fabric, sort of like car seat upholstery or something. NOT vinyl or leather or wood. Even so, I draped it with a towel for . . . many various reasons. *grin*

[identity profile] lhynard.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
When living at my own apartment, I pretty much did everything in the nude -- not necessarily all of the time, it depended on the temperature and convenience -- but it's not that surprising a thing.

[identity profile] jpsorrow.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't see a problem with it either. I mean, it's HOT! And I'm home. Alone. With the drapes drawn.

But of course I announce this on LJ.

But of course I announce this on LJ.

That is where you and I differ. :)
