Completely Kindled

I've been completely Kindled! That's right, I just noticed that all three of my books are now available on Kindle. LINKS!

The Skewed Throne (Kindle)
The Cracked Throne (Kindle)
The Vacant Throne (Kindle)

So, how does that work in terms of royalties? If your Agent sold electronic rights does that only cover Kindle or does that allow a separate deal with another e-book provider?

And I guess the biggest question, considering how much electronic copies are expanding these days: Do you earn less for an e-book sale because the price is cheaper than a printed book?

ETA: I should also add that being Kindled is pretty cool. I'm getting closer and closer to purchasing a Kindle.

You do know they just dropped the price to $299?

[identity profile] jpsorrow.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure how my contract reads for the electronic rights. I know DAW bought them, so it's out of my hands. I'd have to dig out the contract to see what the royalty is, although I believe that the royalty rate applies to the actual cost of the book. So even if amazon sells it at a discount, I still get the same royalty as full price.

Sweet. I was just wondering what I was going to upload next.

Congrats to you!

Someone want to buy Kindled Dark Winter along with Kindled Skewed Throne ;-)?

That way, every time someone looks at The Skewed Throne, it will say, "Customers who purchased this book also purchased....."

Mwahahahahaha!

It's cool to be Kindled.

Kindling is good - but I have a Sony Reader.

[identity profile] jpsorrow.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know if it's available for the Reader yet. DAW is a little behind on this bandwagon, but they've been steadily getting the older books ready for electronic editions.

Sony owners can get them at the Sony bookstore and at Books On Board - where they're available in epub format.

You are on all major e-reading platforms!

Congrats! Unfortunately last time I checked, Kindles are not yet available to Canadians....boo!

[identity profile] jpsorrow.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Boo! Although I'll be in Canada for Worldcon in Montreal. You going?

Thanks for the tip! As it happens, I just ordered a NEW Kindle 2, and will pass on my Kindle 1 to my husband. I just ordered book 1 in your series sent to the new Kindle so when it arrives, I can turn it on and download your book!

[identity profile] jpsorrow.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Great! Thanks!

[identity profile] temporus.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Sweet. I'd been meaning to track down The Skewed Throne. My local bookstore seems to only keep in stock The Vacant Throne. Silly bookstore.

[identity profile] jpsorrow.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
The bookstore should be able to order the book in though. I know it's readily available (the last I checked). But yeah, bookstores don't necessarily keep the earlier books in a series on the shelf, even when the later books have just been released. I'm honestly glad they had Vacant Throne on the shelf. (Please feel free to point it out to local friends! *grin*)

[identity profile] temporus.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
True, but it's a bit of a pain to special order books. Was much easier when my friend worked there, and I'd just causually tell her about which books I noticed missing on the shelves. There's a part of me that gets very frustrated by the stores in this fashion. I had a devil of a time tracking down the second book in the Goblin Trilogy by Jim Hines, because the bookstores were carrying book one and book three, but not two.

In the end....the Kindle edition just makes my life easier, with a two week old and a two year old in the house, I have less time to fritter away at bookstores than I would like.

Hope you get many eBook sales!

Yay! I just grabbed The Skewed Throne (which I assume is the first?).

That is the first, yes. *grin* And thanks!

This would mean that you're on fire?

[identity profile] inspirethoughts.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations! That is so very nice!

Congratulations :)

That's awesome! I already have a physical copy of The Skewed Throne, but since almost all my reading these days is on my Kindle I'll probably pick up all three in e-form.
