And so it begins . . .
Dec. 19th, 2008 11:08 amIt's begun to snow. (Sorry to disappoint you all, but I don't have anything that tops the "pin in the ass" event.) So apparently the weathermen were correct: we will get a shitload of snow today. They've been wrong the last 2 times at least. But this is looking rather serious. And since I just drove back from the mall in my sportscar in it and know what the roads are currently like (slippery!) . . . I think I'll huddle in the house for the rest of the day. I'm wondering if I'll be able to make the spinning class I'm supposed to teach tonight. And then there's the Christmas party afterwards . . .
I've been silent this past week mainly due to finals and grading. I've pretty much been grading nonstop since Monday after the first final. I have 9 exams left to go and had hoped to get them done today before noon. However, the snow forced me to do the mall run this morning (ostensibly getting it done before any snow fell). So I haven't even started on those yet. I was reserving the afternoon for writing, but we'll see. I have to get the grades in; and more importantly I WANT to get the grades in so I can say the semester is ended, over, kaput, nothing more for me to do.
OK, now to get serious. I have only had one entry in the picture contest I'm currently running. It's a really good entry. A REALLY good entry. (Hey,![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
maiaarts, did you want your photo posted on that blog comment to be an entry? I wasn't sure.) But still, I was hoping for a little bit more reaction from everyone. I'd really like to see some creative pics of people, cats, dogs, guinea pigs, snowmen, Farscape characters, Star Trek characters, Star Trek Barbie characters, etc reading my books. Or you could have the book lost on the Lost island, or you could be reading it while rock climbing (like the Scalzi pic), or you could be reading it while skydiving, or shoveling the snow with it, or perhaps you're trying to read it but the cat keeps laying down on it, or whatever. Isn't there anything that sparks your imagination and makes you smile? Any image at all?
I realize it's the holiday season and most of us are crazed trying to get shopping done and such. And I know that some of you have also gotten icons/avatars ready for that contest as well. So I'll stop whimpering and grovelling and just repost the contest descriptions. Don't forget the first sighting of Vacant Throne in paperback contest! Keep watching that bookstore shelf!
And in the meantime, let me cuddle up in the warmth of the my loft, watch the snow, and grade. I'll start fretting about whether I'll make the gym or not later.
