While I certainly agree that some humor works in horror, it definitely has to be organic to the story. That said, I quite enjoy some humorless horror (much Lovecraft actually), so I think it's really on the shoulders of the writer in the end. I kinda' like a story that doesn't let up until the back cover closes, letting a return to the real world be the relief, lol. Different strokes though. Good post!
