OK, Benjamin Tate's new book, WELL OF SORROWS, is hitting the shelf next week and I was hoping that some of you guys would be willing to help spread the word about it next week at some point. It could be something as simple as posting about the book hitting the shelf on your blog, with links to the www.benjamintate.com, or as big as having Ben Tate do a guest post on your blog or answer interview questions on your blog. I'll be designing a graphic announcing the release and posting the html code for that which can be copied and pasted into your blog as well, as a quick way to spread the word.

If you're willing to do something to help spread the word, I'd appreciate it. If it's a mention or a posting of the graphic I'll design, then I'll thank you ahead of time, since there's nothing else you'll really need from me personally. However, if you're willing to do something different--an interview or a guest post or something I haven't thought of--then get in touch with me at jpalmatier@sff.net and we can work out the details.

Thanks in advance!

If I could get an ARC so I could read it and prepare a post, I would be glad to! But I don't find it answers much just to post basic adverts.

Always happy to help out another author. I'll mention it on my blogs. (And it does look pretty cool.) :-)

That said, could I maybe impose on you to return the favor? :-} I'm still trying to build my audience for The Conqueror's Shadow (released about two months ago).

I can do an Author Interview for you, if you'd like. If so, contact me at jpalmatier@sff.net and I'll tell you what you need to do for that.

The mention in both places would be great, thanks!

I'm very happy to host an author visit (beacuse mentioning books doesn't drive sales nearly as well as an interesting post by an interesting person). Author visits on my blog (as you might realise) are seldom just stages on a blogtour - I like the author to talk about something related to their book that's interesting in its own right. I particularly like it if it's a history-related post, or a foodie one, but I'm definitely open to suggestions.

Hey, didn't we set something up ages ago for this? Well, regardless, I can talk about how the book has a "history-related" origin, in the respect that I wanted to do an exploration type of book, sort of like the settling of the American West. Would that work?

We did, which is one of the reasons I volunttered a spot. I've been trying to work out solutions for all the writers, gradually (I hate not fulfilling promises). Also, I think my blog readers would enjoy reading a guest post by you and a bunch of them need to read your writing. So this is a good all round.

What happened with the series on food history (which was for my other blog) was that the owners of 451Press went bust along with the US economy and they sacked all 300 bloggers, took our names off our work and didn't even allow us to put up farewell messages. I thought about starting up again somewhere else, but other things intervened, so I started bringing the outstanding interviews over to LJ and writing to people. Then it became patently clear that I was seriously ill and some of it just didn't happen. I've always kept in mind I wanted to have you guest blogging at some stage, not just because of promises I made, but also because I love your writing and want more people reading it. It was at the back of my mind and I was wondering how to approach it. When you made this post, everything became much simpler.

Talking about the 'history-related' origin and the exploration type of book would be excellent.

PS The blog offer applies to Mr Tate, you and to anyone equally close. I suspect you know this, but was just confirming. The writer might have to give a bit of an introduction for the non North American readers.

I'll get Ben Tate working on a history-related post for you then. When it's ready, I'll be in touch!

Is there anywhere that I could read an excerpt? I'm happy to mention the book on my blog too but at the moment I don't have much to say except that I like the cover art... :)

I should have said I checked his website and amazon and didn't see an excerpt at either of those. I haven't had my coffee yet though, so that could be why!

I'd be delighted to help.

If you want to give me something to post, I can post it any day but Wednesday. (I have a guest blogger set for Wed. already.)

Just let me know what to post/crosspost.

Jagi

PS. Okay...just reread your note and realized I'd missed part of it. Yeah, a guest blog would be cool, any day but Wed.

So what would you like in the way of a guest blog? Any particular type of subject you'd like me to address? Should I just talk about writing or the book?

I hear Benjamin's coming to Flights. Can't promise I'll be there, since I can't drive after dark, but I hope it goes well.
