Lunacon: A Release Party!
This coming weekend is LUNACON, in Rye Brook, NY, in the famous "Escher" hotel, where one moment you're on floor 4 and the next (without the aid of stairs) you're on floor 8. This year, the attending authors who have stories in After Hours: Tales From the Ur-Bar are hosting a release party for the anthology. It will be held on Saturday night of the con, starting at 8pm. We'll have a room in the party wing of the hotel, but since we want to serve alcohol (the anthology is about a bar, we HAVE to serve alcohol) the party will be closed. To get in, you have to have one of the After Hours: Tales From the Ur-Bar postcards (limited quantities available) OR better yet, a copy of the book. We'll also have the books for sale through Larry Smith at the con, so you can pick one up there. And you should bring it to the party, because there will be six authors there who can sign it! Those planning to attend at this moment are: Barbara Ashford, Patricia Bray, S.C. Butler, Laura Anne Gilman, Joshua Palmatier, Avery Shade, and Benjamin Tate. (Yes, that's 7 names, but only 6 people.) If you're collecting signatures, here's a chance to get nearly half of the anthology covered in one shot!
I will also be on several--and I mean several--panels during the convention. Here's my schedule:
Friday:
5pm Developing Believable Culture and Religion for Fiction
6pm Finding Your Voice
8pm Keeping Your Readers on the Edge of Their Seats
10pm Urban Fantasty
11pm Down These Mean Streets
Saturday:
10am Creating Believable Heroic Characters
Noon The Biggest Mistakes New Writers Make
2pm A Little Help From Your Friends
3pm Anthologies
4pm After Hours
8pm RELEASE PARTY!!!
Sunday:
10am Support Your Fantasy Regime
11am Butchering Your Own Baby
Noon Writing a First Chapter that Sells
2pm Writing Battle Scenes
OK, disclaimer: I may not make the last 2 panels, since my ride will likely be leaving before then. And I do have a day job to get back to on Monday and need to prepare for that. Plus the fact that even if I were on those panels, I'd likely not be coherent after being on 12 others PLUS the throwing the release party the night before. So it's hit or miss on those last two. (I think I can safely say I won't be on the 2pm panel.) I warned the con ahead of time, so they know.
They also had me scheduled on 2 panels at the same time at the release party, but hopefully they had enough time to remove my name from those two.
In any case, who plans on attending Lunacon? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?
