Don't forget this Black Friday weekend that you can help out Literacy Volunteers of Broome-Tioga raise funds by saving up your Barnes & Noble purchases and either coming to the Vestal, NY, Barnes & Noble on December 11th and buying it all there OR by ordering those items online between December 11-16th and entering the bookfair code 11572658 at checkout. The advantage of coming to the store in Vestal is that I'll be there signing copies of my books from 3-7pm. However, if you can't visit our own store, and don't want to go online, you should be able to present the code at your own store and have it work as well.

In any case, SAVE UP YOUR B&N PURCHASES and then buy it all on December 11th! Help fight illiteracy! I'll send out reminders as the date draws closer. Here's a link to a flyer for the event with coupons that contain the code. You can print it and pass it around to all of your B&N book-loving friends!

Barbara Ashford, author of Spellcast and its newly released sequel, Spellcrossed, is holding a release party this Sunday, June 24th, 2012, 1-4pm, at Spectator's Pub, 219 North Avenue, New Rochelle, NY. We'll have some bar food out for people to snack on and the books to buy if you don't have it already. Feel free to stop by! We're there from 1-4pm, and since both of us have books coming out in May (SPELLCAST from Barbara and WELL OF SORROWS in paperback from me), you can come chat with us about those new releases as well. The address is below. If you're in NYC, take a break and do an outing up to Spectator's for drinks, bar food, and a good long friendly chat with two fantasy authors. And now I'd like to talk about some of the Fall TV that we're starting to see. Last night, I saw Flashforward . . . and I have to say that I liked it! Alot! The main issue I see with the show at this point is that the SF event that is the heart of the show has already happened. It's the setup. The rest appears to be the story unfolding from this event and how people react to it, so I'm kind of wondering if they can keep up the "cool" factor of the premise without doing more "flashforwards" down the road. They've certainly got a few mysteries to solve, which is good. I'm certainly interested in the show and intend to keep watching.

During one of the breaks for this, they showed a trailer for a remake of V. I never saw the original show when it aired, but the preview looked interesting. It had the cool SF factor, but it didn't really give away much in terms of storyline. So in that respect, Flashforward kicked V's ass. I was much more anxious about seeing the Flashforward premiere than I am to seeing the V premiere. I'll check it out of course.

I also watched Fringe last night, and it was good. But I already liked Fringe so there's no surprise there. I like what they're doing with the season so far.

After that I watched Project Runway. Not much to say here, except that it still seems to catch my attention and keep it.

In other reality TV news, I'm looking forward to The Amazing Race starting up this Sunday.

And that's what I've seen so far. What else is everyone anticipating or watching in the way of TV this Fall?
